Dental Implants

One of the most popular ways to restore full function to your mouth is with a dental implant.

What is a Dental Implant?

Implants are a way to replace a missing tooth with a complete synthetic tooth, from root to crown. It starts with the implant rod. This rod is made from high-grade medical titanium, and it is placed into your jaw right where a natural root would have been.

After this placement, the area around the implant heals, going through a process called osseointegration. This healing process causes the bone and the implant to fuse together in a way that makes both of them stronger and more secure.

After osseointegration is complete, the structure is topped with a custom-crafted dental crown, which replaces the biting and chewing surface of your teeth. This crown is not only crafted to fill the gap in your mouth, but to match perfectly with the adjacent teeth, making it all but indistinguishable from the rest of your smile.

Why Implants?

Dental implants have been proven to last for decades and counting. They will endure the everyday wear and tear of your teeth with no extra work or maintenance. Simply floss and brush as you would with any other tooth.

Implant structures truly are a great replacement for your whole tooth.

There are benefits under the surface as well. When teeth are missing, the gums and jawbone around the area begin to lose mass. As they recede, the mouth sinks in, and the thinner bone levels become weaker.

Implants head that off. By fusing the rod with the bone, recession is halted, and your jaw stays as healthy as though it still had all of its natural teeth.

In order to securely place the implant, a certain amount of bone is required upfront. If your teeth have been missing for a while, you may have insufficient thickness in the jaw to safely go through the implant process.

Fortunately, there is a way to combat this. Bone grafts are a successful and effective way to thicken up the bone before the implant is placed. Here at Evolve Dental Group, we can work with you to make sure that your mouth is in ideal health before any implants are placed.
